Avoiding conflicts in tour planning

Avoiding conflicts in tour planning

Thanks to real-time dispatch in BlueLOGICO®

Lesezeit: 4 minutes | Friday, 13. Mar 2020

Our innovative dispatch and telematics software BlueLOGICO® supports entrepreneurs, fleet managers, and dispatchers in optimizing fleet operations. Developed in 2013 in collaboration with TÜV SÜD and with support from the European Union, BlueLOGICO® has been continuously evolving.

BlueLOGICO® now features Real-Time Dispatch

With the latest optimization measure, our telematics complete system has received real-time dispatch, significantly simplifying and speeding up the dispatcher's work. Tours and vehicles can now be planned, activated, and monitored even faster. Also integrated are numerous functions for error prevention and quality assurance. With the new real-time dispatch, BlueLOGICO® users receive another powerful feature package for optimizing dispatch processes. Many important work steps and routines around tour planning can now be executed even faster and easier than before.

With the features of real-time dispatch, dispatchers of freight forwarders and carriers can assign (or remove) all planned tours in real-time to the most suitable vehicles, monitor their actions "live" on the screen, and react without delay if the situation requires it. All of this is done via drag and drop in the layout of a clearly structured, graphical user interface, consisting of four areas:

  • The vehicle list
  • A list of planned tours
  • A timeline
  • A large assignment field

The orders created in BlueLOGICO® or imported via an interface, including calculated tours, are then sent directly from BlueLOGICO® to the driver, who receives them on the DriverDisplay or the TEOS® app.

Avoiding errors, optimizing tours

The new real-time dispatch also includes a range of useful automatisms and features that prevent planning errors and support the optimization of tours and routes. This includes, for example, the time window settings function. With this, the dispatcher can define exact time windows that can be flexibly adapted to various peculiarities and requirements of a tour. The pre-defined labels can be adopted by the system or new time windows can be created individually. In addition, the planned stops can also be entered, which are then taken into account in tour planning.

Furthermore, the real-time dispatch function keeps an eye on the drivers' remaining driving times. As soon as a driver needs to take a break, this is displayed to the dispatcher in the graphical user interface as a white rectangle. Remaining driving times, on the other hand, are visualized by the system – automatically and always up-to-date – as a descending curve graph. Various warning messages appear on the screen if scheduling or tour conflicts arise during the dispatcher's planning work. For example, if multiple tours assigned to a vehicle collide in time, a red warning point appears next to the vehicle designation. The warning function also supports the avoidance of empty runs – for example, if the destination and starting point of two tours are too far apart, and the duration of an empty run from the end of tour 1 to the beginning of tour 2 would hinder a timely start of the second tour.
