Environmentally friendly fleet

Lesezeit: 4 minutes | Thursday, 20. Dec 2018

Welcome to "Benefits of Telematics Part 4". In our last article in this series, we discussed the topic of safety in relation to telematics systems. In today's post, we'll focus on the environmentally friendly impact of telematics.

Telematics systems help to improve traffic flows in terms of efficiency, cost-effectiveness, environmental compatibility, and traffic safety. Additionally, telematics systems assist entrepreneurs in better managing their own fleets, reducing unnecessary trips, and delivering more performance over the same distance. Thus, a telematics system not only positively influences the economic success of individual companies but also helps to protect the environment.

Increasingly high Traffic Volume

Freight traffic volume is clearly increasing. According to estimates, freight traffic volume is expected to increase by 40 percent by 2030. The main burden falls on road transport, which currently transports around 75 percent of all goods. Through the intelligent use of telematics, entrepreneurs can contribute to environmental protection and energy savings through targeted traffic avoidance and traffic diversion while simultaneously increasing efficiency.

Comprehensive CO2 Calculation

TachoEASY enables interested parties to calculate CO2 emissions for all journeys seamlessly. The calculation of CO2 emissions is based on actual consumption in real-time.

DIN EN 16258

DIN EN 16258 was implemented in 2013 and is a European-wide regulation for calculating CO2 emissions in transport & logistics. This means that transport and logistics companies must calculate and report greenhouse gas emissions in a standardized manner. TachoEASY offers GHG calculations in accordance with and compliance with this standard. Therefore, when purchasing a telematics solution, you should ensure that the provider offers calculation according to DIN EN 16258 to comply with EU requirements and to be future-proof.
