Andreas Schubert on Remote Reading of Tachograph Data

Focus on RDL

Andreas Schubert is a successful transport entrepreneur from Tegernsee and one of the most well-known truckers in Germany. With his unique style and through hard work, he has made a name for himself in the industry. Especially through the successful show "Asphalt Cowboys," Andreas Schubert became a star among truckers in the DACH region. As a self-employed truck operator, he is constantly on the roads of Europe. Because he prefers to spend his limited free time on enjoyable things rather than reading tachographs, he has opted for the automatic remote reading of driver and tachograph data. He will tell you what this is and the advantages of remote reading in the following interview.

Here's what Andreas Schubert says about the benefits of automatic remote reading:

How automatic remote reading works

To read and transmit the data from the tachograph and driver cards, a telematics box is installed in the vehicle, which is connected to the CAN connection of the digital tachograph. The telematics box contains a SIM card, which sends the information via a secure data connection from the telematics box to the PC with BlueLOGICO®.

The download of the driver card starts automatically as soon as a driver inserts his driver card for the first time on a day. The vehicle unit data is usually downloaded every week. BlueLOGICO® establishes a connection to the respective tachograph at defined intervals and authenticates the download. If multiple tachographs need to send data simultaneously, they queue up.

Evaluation and archiving

In addition to complying with the legally prescribed intervals for downloading (28 days for the driver card, 3 months for the vehicle unit), the entrepreneur has a reliable basis for deployment planning with the daily evaluation of driving and rest times. Our dispatch and telematics software BlueLOGICO® automatically retrieves the data and presents the relevant information for the dispatcher in a clear manner. The automatic evaluation of the drivers' current violations can also be generated automatically. All relevant data from the digital tachograph and driver cards are sent via a mobile and secure data connection to the company PC with BlueLOGICO®, automatically imported, and archived.

Always keeping an eye on remaining driving time

With the data from the driver card and the activities since the last reading, the BlueLOGICO® system calculates the current remaining driving time to the minute at any time of the day. Violations and fines can thus be actively avoided and not only detected when it's too late.
