The key points at a glance

For companies in transportation and logistics, the effective and efficient use of vehicles is of utmost importance. Unlike manufacturing companies with their own machinery, the core resources (fleet) of transport/logistics companies are not stationary. This makes continuous monitoring and control of the value-adding process more challenging. To optimize fleet utilization and streamline the transport process, the majority of transport companies nowadays use a telematics solution.

The basic tasks of telematics include:

  • Collecting all relevant fleet data
  • Mobile transmission of collected data to software in the company
  • Processing and visualization of data as a basis for fleet deployment
  • Incorporating a variety of functions to optimize fleet use
  • Communicating and collaborating with drivers

Modern telematics systems like BlueLOGICO® cover everything from tracking and route tracing to tour planning and order management, as well as individual driver training.

Basic structure of a telematics system:

In the vehicle, a telematics box is usually installed to capture vehicle data such as vehicle position, driver status (DTCO), and remaining driving time. The data from the DTCO and the driver are automatically read and sent to the company in BlueLOGICO®. To simplify collaboration with drivers and avoid communication errors, drivers are equipped with mobile devices such as the DriverDisplay or the TEOS® App.

General overview of important tasks of a telematics system:

Tracking and route tracing

With tracking and route tracing functions, you always know where your vehicles are and where they have been. This allows you to keep track of your fleet, create transparency in the transport process, and ensure clean documentation of all trips and stops.

Tour planning and order management

In BlueLOGICO®, you can create complete tours and send them to your drivers. A new tour can be created either manually or with the tour creation assistant. Our smart algorithm arranges the individual tour stops for you in the best order and optimizes the route. This ensures that your drivers always take the best routes and are most efficient on the road. You can also create orders in BlueLOGICO® and assign them to tours or individual stops.

Remote reading & remaining driving time

If the telematics box in the vehicle is connected to the DTCO, the data from the digital tachograph can be determined and read remotely. The tachograph and driver card data are sent to the company via a secure mobile connection and automatically imported into tacholog² and archived there. In addition, the driving, remaining driving, and rest times are available in BlueLOGICO® for deployment planning. This supports you in complying with legal requirements and avoiding penalties.

Communication

BlueLOGICO® has a message center from which dispatchers and fleet managers can send messages to the drivers. Once your drivers are equipped with the Driver Display or the TEOS® App, they receive messages, navigation destinations, or route changes directly in the vehicle. By sending response options, the driver can confirm messages or transmit their current status. This fundamentally simplifies communication and saves a lot of phone calls.
