On April 7th, the first issue of the new trade magazine "The Austrian Transporter" was published, focusing on bodies, cranes, tail lifts, and fleet management. In this magazine, you will find a very interesting article about our partner, Schlager GmbH. In the interview, Anders-Transporteur Hubert Schlager talks about values, digitization, and our solution that supports him in the optimal use of his fleet.

The Different Transporters

At Schlager GmbH from Saxen, Upper Austria, handshake quality counts just as much as social responsibility. Digitization entered the company early.

Twenty trucks from MAN and Iveco, all Euro 6, form the fleet of Schlager GmbH, which currently employs 38 people. In addition to goods transport in local and national long-distance traffic, the company specializes in media transport and company traffic takeover. In 1989, Hubert Schlager senior faced the decision to continue delivery runs for Mediaprint, where he had been employed for twenty years, on a self-employed basis or to reorient himself. His enthusiasm for transportation made the decision easier for him, and even today, his former employer is still a customer.

Driving Artworks

They don't just see themselves as different Transporters, they live it. "Working with our customers and partners on an equal footing is our top priority," explains the entrepreneur, who is committed to healthy economic growth and a fair win-win relationship. "But this should not be achieved at the expense of people and social understanding." Furthermore, since 2005, their truck tarpaulins have been moving artworks, as artists from Lebenshilfe Oberösterreich demonstrate their skills on them. They are also open to alternative drives and already have an LNG-powered Iveco truck in operation.

Modern transport companies are required, due to legal regulations, to collect and archive data about their fleet. "That's why we have been relying on TachoEASY for fourteen years. Currently, we have the full program, from TachoLOG software to BlueLOGICO fleet management and DriverDisplay in use," reports Schlager, who had already embraced digitalization in the company at a time when very few were concerned with this issue.

Resource-efficient Work

Since 2006, the Austrian-German company TachoEASY has been dealing with the development of software and telematics systems for small and large transport companies. "We primarily aim to enable our customers to work in a resource-efficient manner and to automatically comply with legal requirements," says Sales Manager Christian Culik. "While TachoLOG is the ideal software for archiving and evaluating data from the smart tachograph and driver, company, control, and workshop cards, BlueLOGICO is an innovative and easy-to-use dispatch and telematics software that provides entrepreneurs with a variety of data for dispatch, tracking, FMS, and serves as the basis for automated time recording."

Improved Communication

For Hubert Schlager, this looks like this in practice: "TachoEASY provides all relevant data of the vehicle, driver, etc. to our dispatch software CS Steiner, in order to guarantee the most optimal process and to maximally support our dispatch. We even integrated the tire pressure system from Continental into our BlueLOGICO software. The DriverDisplay also provides the driver with the perfect overview." This is intended to facilitate cooperation and communication between drivers and their companies through direct order and tour allocation. Drivers receive all information in real-time and can start tours directly, view order information, or document activities, among other things. A delivery note from the ERP system can be signed directly on the tablet and is immediately available in the company.

Because quick decisions are essential in the transportation industry, Schlager feels well taken care of by TachoEASY. "The relationship is very good. They respond to requests, if possible, because often one imagines their implementation to be easier than it is in reality. We are certainly a demanding operation, and sometimes we push support to its limits." But this is precisely where the strength of a partnership lies, which, according to Schlager, will certainly continue to exist between the two companies for a long time to come.

Quick Decisions

Addressing the current situation once again, Hubert Schlager once again demonstrates his resilience. "Challenging times require quick decisions, every day, to adapt to the new circumstances that are constantly bombarding us. The conversations with our employees, to provide them with orientation and security during this time, currently take up a lot of time. As a family business that has pursued manageable growth as a corporate strategy for years and continuously adjusts its structures, there is probably more leeway here than elsewhere."
